Given the existing balance of power, peace and signing the peace treaty are primarily beneficial to Armenia, which, according to Areg Kochinyan, will recognize the territorial integrity and sovereignty of both states, establish diplomatic relations, and reinforce the transition from war to peace.
As for the question of whether the European Union Mission in Armenia should leave the Armenian border at Azerbaijan’s request, the political scientist claims that this question concerns Armenia and the European Union, and Baku has no say in it. In his opinion, we should talk not about terminating the EU observation mission, but about enhancing it.
At the same time, the RCSP president emphasized the importance of implementing reorganization, fortification, and reformation of Armenia’s own border guard units (technical equipment, increase in human resources) and added that Armenia has got serious “homework” to do in this regard.
