Will Azerbaijan’s Armed Forces Be Withdrawn from Jermuk? Two Years After the War

by RCSP

The president of RCSP unequivocally links the 2022 escalation of Azerbaijani troops into Armenian territories with Russia’s efforts to construct the “corridor” and ensure Russian control.

“The Azerbaijani escalation and Russia’s extremely tolerant attitude towards it occurred in response to the Armenian government’s refusal,” notes the political scientist.

According to Areg Kochinyan, the joint regulation of the Armenian and Azerbaijani border by demarcation commissions is not the only solution or guarantee for ensuring the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from occupied Armenian territories, however, it is the right step in that direction.

The same is noted regarding the deployment of the EU Mission, despite the fact that it has provided accountability and transparency on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The political scientist considers the only security guarantee to be the country’s own armed forces and their successes in this process.
