In an interview with Public Television, Areg Kochinyan discussed the advantages of signing a peace treaty and the removal of dependency on the monopoly of the November 9 statement. The president of the Research Center on Security Policy (RCSP) noted that the upcoming treaty would take the current phase of Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations one step forward, a move supported not only by Western countries but also by Turkey.
“At the same time, there is a power center—Russia—which is doing everything to delay these processes,” Kochinyan said. This stems from Russia’s agreements with Azerbaijan, in response to the services Russia has provided in Nagorno-Karabakh. Despite Azerbaijan’s numerous fabricated pretexts, the political analyst considers bilateral negotiations with Azerbaijan to be effective.
