- What does economic diversification mean?
- Is Armenia’s economy diversified?
- What role do domestic reforms play in economic development?
- Is it possible to reduce economic dependence on Russia while remaining in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)?
- How attractive and promising are the Arab countries for the development of Armenia’s economy?
In the next episode of the program “Dilemma”, dedicated to security issues, these questions are analyzed by economist and head of the Macroeconomics Department at ASUE, Sos Khachikyan, economist and head of the Statistics Department at ASUE, Armen Ktsoyan, and Areg Kochinyan, head of the ” Research Center on Security Policy.”
Sos Khachikyan
From the viewpoint of our opportunities within the European Union, a specialized study must be conducted.
Armen Ktoyan
Of course, it is desirable to integrate with an environment that operates under much higher standards, such as the EU, but we must also understand the associated risks and opportunities, as well as the obstacles, which in my view are quite significant… This implies that the agenda should be shaped based on specialized analyses and targeted studies.”
“There is a certain level of non-systemic risk, which can be mitigated through diversification. We must recognize that we should not expect too much from diversification, however, the core criterion of diversification should be the efficiency of resource utilization. If that efficiency requires building relationships with a particular country, or if it demands that certain standards be applied in one sector of your economy, and allocating a specific amount of resources to boost that sector, then it must be done.”
Areg Kochinyan
“The solution to our problems lies in the further development and deepening of Armenia’s democratic institutions and structures.”
