In an interview with Factor TV, RCSP expert Robert Ghevondyan discussed the joint vision for border control on Iran and Turkey’s frontiers, involving collaboration between the Russian Border Guard and representatives of Armenia’s National Security Service’s Border Guard as of January 1, 2024. He also spoke about the agreement regarding exclusive Armenian control over the service at the Iran-Armenia border crossing.
Ghevondyan noted that, while Armenia’s current capabilities are sufficient to carry out these tasks, they continue to evolve, offering hope that in the future, the protection of all state borders will be handled solely by Armenian forces. He emphasized that this development is necessary not only for strengthening Armenia’s own security mechanisms but also in line with the overall logic of advancing the state’s progress.
