Armenia and Turkey’s Interests in a Peace Agreement Are Closer Than Those of Turkey and Azerbaijan

by RCSP

In an interview with Civic News, Areg Kochinyan assessed the Armenia-Azerbaijan negotiation process, noting that it is more open and transparent than any previous phase of negotiations.

According to the political scientist, Turkey’s interest in signing a peace agreement is driven less by political motives and more by economic considerations. In this context, the paradoxical alignment of interests between Armenia and Turkey contrasts with the diverging interests of Azerbaijan and Russia.

“Active engagement with the Trump administration is essential while U.S. policy on the South Caucasus remains in its formative stage,” Kochinyan emphasized.
