Responding to Ilham Aliyev’s recent remarks, political scientist Areg Kochinyan, in an interview with Zarkerak.am, discussed the likelihood of military escalation by Azerbaijan. He stated that Aliyev’s comments were part of ongoing diplomatic pressure to push for the opening of the “Zangezur Corridor.” Nevertheless, Kochinyan emphasized, “We must consider this scenario and be ready for self-defense.”

Regarding Azerbaijan’s demand to halt arms supplies to Armenia, Kochinyan argued, “We have equally valid reasons to make similar statements, calling for an end to arming Azerbaijan and avoiding a new arms race in the South Caucasus.”
