A Key Issue That Armenia Is Not Rushing To Solve: It Could Be Dangerous

by RCSP

RCSP-associated expert Samvel Meliksetyan, in an interview with the Noyan Tapan platform, noted that Trump’s statement about the forced displacement of Artsakh’s Christian population is merely a pre-election conjunctural statement that shouldn’t be taken seriously.

According to the expert, Armenia’s interest in improving relations with Turkey is important both for reducing the risk factor in Armenian-Azerbaijani relations and for weakening its dependence on Russia.

“Turkey is, of course, a very complex but in the long run a very important country for Armenia to escape the security trap it fell into in the early 90s, which led to its disproportionate dependence on Russia,” noted the expert.

Addressing Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, the expert noted that it is necessary to form a model of relations based on mutual trust, where geopolitical changes will not affect the positions of the parties.
