Public discussion. The new EU observation mission in Armenia

by RCSP

There is an ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, with Armenia being at a disadvantage. Currently, attempts are being made to partially address this conflict by involving a third parties like Russia or the EU. However, it’s important to recognize that these external actors can only play a supporting role, not the primary one. It would be unrealistic to expect them to fully fill the void. Ultimately, it is Armenia’s own efforts that hold the key.

Russia’s presence in Artsakh is driven solely by its own interests and is not directly tied to Armenia’s policies. Whether Armenia joins NATO or a Union State, Russia’s calculations regarding Artsakh and its military presence there will not change. If it serves Russia’s interests to maintain a presence in Artsakh, they will stay; if not, they won’t.
