In his interview with Factor TV, RCSP President Areg Kochinyan discussed the latest developments in Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations, noting that the negotiations will succeed if Armenia’s resistibility increases. “Long-term peace is possible as a result of two parallel processes – on the one hand, Armenia’s resistibility increases to the point that fighting against us is expensive, on the other hand, our message in negotiations is so effective that talking to us is inexpensive,” said the RCSP President.
When asked why Russia is challenging the Alma-Ata Declaration and the bilateral negotiation format, the political scientist noted that, unlike Armenia and Azerbaijan, Russia’s ally is the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict itself, the perpetuation of which is beneficial to Russia. Domestic political processes were also addressed, to which A. Kochinyan responded: “In theory, change of opposition in Armenia is possible and should happen, however, that requires quite serious work, which at this moment I don’t see anyone doing.”
