Regarding the discussions surrounding Armenian-Russian relations that argue for a less heated and non-emotional policy within the framework of Russian-Turkish cooperation, the RCSP president notes that the Russian modus operandi in this case is not episodic. On the contrary, over the past two hundred years, Armenia has been witnessing the reality where it is the Armenian people who suffer as a result of the alignment of Russian-Turkish interests. “Russia has interests contrary to Armenia’s permanence, success, and prosperity. The absence of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict resolution and Armenian-Turkish relations is of vital importance to the former.”
The political scientist attributes this to Russia’s efforts to maintain its influence in the South Caucasus, and on the way of achieving this goal (according to a preliminary Russian-Azerbaijani agreement) it uses the Azerbaijani factor, conditioned by the sabotage of signing the peace treaty.
