․․․Thus, the situation on the ground is quite paradoxical in all respects. Armenia’s formal allies are politically, economically, and value-wise much closer to Armenia’s opponents and take either questionable or openly hostile stances on all important issues for the Republic of Armenia.
At the same time, Armenia receives significant support from the West, which is formally not its ally, while Azerbaijan faces opposition there. The paradox, in essence, lies in the fact that formal alliances not only fail to work but operate in opposite logics.
