In an interview with Public Television, The President of the Research Center on Security Policy (RCSP) Areg Kochinyan addressed Armenian-French relations, emphasizing the necessity of legally elevating them to a strategic level.
“The greatest contribution France can make to the peace-building process and the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations should be efforts aimed at enhancing Armenia’s resilience,” the political scientist noted.
This not only includes a military-technical component but also involves the restoration of infrastructure and energy capacities, as well as reducing potential dependency on Russia. According to the political scientist, Armenia’s primary challenge is to strengthen its resilience, while the second priority is to support the peace agenda and reduce the legitimacy of any potential war initiated by Azerbaijan. Despite the fact that a peace agreement will not guarantee the establishment of peace between the two countries, it is still a step toward de-escalation.
