Areg Kochinyan, the president of RCSP, spoke about ensuring the presence of the RA NSS on the Armenian-Turkish and Armenian-Iranian borders and the consequences of this decision within the framework of the “Public Discussion” program on Public Television.
According to the political scientist, one of the most important indicators of a country’s sovereignty is its ability to protect its own borders. He suggests separating the border forces from the RA National Security Service through reforms and supplementing it with another government-controlled body.
“We need to start a serious conversation with our Western partners in the context of implementing reforms for Armenia’s border service and improving their capabilities, an experience they have already had with two South Caucasian states, Georgia and Azerbaijan,” adds Areg Kochinyan.
