Old Keys Don’t Open New Doors: Kocharyan is Armenia’s Rusty Past

Robert Kocharyan says he has not seen political retribution against anyone. Can public memory be erased? Is it possible to forget October 27, March 1, the “Aragast” cafe incident, the political assassinations during Kocharyan’s years of governance, 90% of which remain unsolved? With his media resources and enormous money, Kocharyan might be able to create a “hero” image for some segments of society, but outside that domain, he confronts brutal reality. Yesterday, soldiers’ mothers quite harshly removed Kocharyan from Yerablur.
