Dilemma 02. Armenia and Military-Political Organizations

by RCSP

We present the 2nd episode of the podcast on “Armenia and Military-Political Organizations,” featuring Armine Margaryan, an expert in military-political affairs, and Armen Hovhannisyan, a political analyst and journalist. The discussion is moderated by Areg Kochinyan, head of the Research Center on Security Policy.

Armine Margaryan

Our participation in peacekeeping missions is extremely important. I’ll emphasize at least two points: first, it positions us as a country contributing to international security and peace, and second, it provides us with an opportunity to strengthen our own capacities.”

Armen Hovhannisyan

The issue is that as a state, as a nation (and here I mean ‘nation’ in the sense of the people making up this state, not in an ethnic sense), we have an obligation to draw conclusions to ensure that events like those of 2020 do not happen again.”

Areg Kochinyan

We must acknowledge that, at least for Armenia, the CSTO is not functioning. This leads us to another conclusion: the security architecture of Armenia, built around the CSTO, is a fiction and does not exist.”
